Love Our Schools is thrilled to announce its newest fundraising campaign to benefit public education across Lafayette Parish: the Love Our Schools Home Giveaway.

Love Our Schools is selling $25 tickets for the chance to win a brand-new home valued at $330,000 to be built and donated by Manuel Builders in Couret Farms, a traditional neighborhood development in Upper Lafayette, just south of Carencro. The drawing will be held on September 21, 2022 with the deadline to purchase tickets being September 18, 2022. There will also be prizes for early-bird ticket purchases including a $5,000 cash prize and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers for one year.

A portion of the proceeds from this home giveaway fundraiser will be given directly to each school within the Lafayette Parish School System to address their specific areas of need, while the remainder will be used for future Love Our Schools initiatives. This home giveaway is made possible through the generosity of Manuel Builders with the donation of the home construction and Southern Lifestyle Development with the donation of the lot.

Enhancing public education is one of the greatest contributions a community can make toward its youth and a vitally important investment in its future. Ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn, grow and excel is critically important for a sustainable, prosperous community and a thriving workforce. This home giveaway will be an annual fundraiser to help maintain and support Love Our Schools’ plans in the years to come. Our community’s future begins in our schools, and it’s up to all of us to join together to ensure a bright future for Louisiana.

Winners

The odds of winning a prize depends on the number of valid raffle tickets sold. Each valid raffle ticket sold has an equal chance to be selected as a winning ticket. The chances of any individual ticket being a winning ticket are based on the number of tickets sold. If fewer tickets are sold, the chances of winning ticket improve.

Each prize will be awarded to only one (1) winner. If the winning ticket selected for a particular prize has more than one name on it, the prize will be awarded to the eligible individual whose name appears first on the ticket. That individual is solely responsible for allocating the value of the prize among the purchasers.

Each winner must accept the prize, “as is” or “as built” without additions or alterations with no expressed or implied warranties by Sponsor.

The winning ticket holder will have thirty (30) days to accept the prize.

Any prize unclaimed after thirty (30) days is forfeited and no substitute or alternative prize will be provided. A forfeited prize may be awarded to an alternate winner selected by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries or in accordance with applicable gaming agency regulations.

Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and Media Provider to use the winner’s name, picture, video image, and relevant quotes to promote Love our Schools, and agreement by the winner that the prize will not be used for fundraising for another charity.

The winner of each prize shall have no rights in or to the prize itself until the winner has been verified as eligible by Sponsor and until delivery of the prize to the winner has been completed. Until that time, as between the William C Schumacher Family Foundation and the winner, each prize remains the sole property of the William C Schumacher Family Foundation. In the case of a winner accepting a house he/she will take ownership subject to all applicable federal, state, and local land use restrictions, and to any covenants, rules, fees, or other restrictions administered by a homeowners’ or condominium association, or other community.

Verification of Potential Winners: ALL POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY SPONSOR, WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE RAFFLE. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT’S ELIGIBILITY HAS BEEN VERIFIED AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE.

Taxes/ Prize Restrictions

Any and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes and all fees and expenses related to acceptance and use of prize not specifically stated herein, including but not limited to, financing charges, change of air travel fees, ground transportation, automobile insurance, meals, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees and/or other expenses, are the responsibility solely of winner. The value of each prize is includible in the winner’s gross income and may be subject to reporting by Sponsor to the Internal Revenue Service. Each winner is solely responsible for payment of all federal, state, and/or local income, sales, or use taxes due on account of his or her acceptance of the prize. If the prize is a house, the winner assumes all fees, local, state, and federal taxes (including but not limited to income taxes based on the value of the house), financing costs (including, but not limited to, closing costs, title insurance, and transfer tax and fees) which must be paid when the house is transferred to the winner. The winner in the Love our Schools Home Giveaway is responsible for payment of income, sales, use or other applicable taxes, titling, registration, and licensing fees. Sponsor takes no responsibility for any tax liabilities. Winners should consult a tax professional.

Prizes identified as “Additional Prizes” cannot be substituted, assigned, transferred, or redeemed for cash; the “Grand Prize” can be forfeited in exchange for a $100,000.00 cash option wherein winner foregoes opportunity to assume possession of Grand Prize and accepts a $100,000.00 payout as substitute; in this instance, William C. Schumacher Family Foundation retains ownership of Grand Prize.

Release and Limitation of Liability

Each winner hereby releases and holds Sponsor, Media Provider, and all Sponsor Associates harmless with respect to any claim based on any such occurrence. A raffle entrant’s sole and exclusive remedy for any breach of duty or conduct related to the Raffle shall be limited to the return of the purchase price paid for his or her raffle tickets.
